Jennifer and I have been friends for thirty years. We met in kindergarten, when I was five and she was five-and-a-half (yes, if you’re doing the math right that would still make me 29). It seems like only yesterday that we were roller-skating around the neighborhood sporting satin jackets and bad perms. There are moments when it’s still hard to wrap my head around the fact that we’re all grown up now, with responsibilities and real estate and babies of our own. So much has changed over the years, but the most important things have remained the same (like, for instance, the fact that she’ll always be older than me). Jen has been, and will always be, a very special person in my life. In addition to the many wonderful things that she is, she is now also a “mom”, and I couldn’t be happier for her!

Jen and Charlie – Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter. She is a very lucky and loved little girl. I wish you all the best, always.

This summer has been the busiest yet for Kelli Dease Photography and I’ve had a great time meeting a photographing some wonderful new families and reconnecting with past clients. I would just like to take a minute to say thank you to all of my wonderful clients. It’s amazing how quickly the years pass, and I am just loving watching all of these children and families grow!

My family and I are packing up the car and heading out to Cape Cod for a few weeks of sun, sand, fun and relaxation. I will be back at the end of August to get ready for the busy fall and holiday season. I will still be answering calls and emails while I’m away (although response times may be a bit slower than normal). All weekend mornings have been booked but there are still a handful of early evening openings for September and October, so call or email me ASAP to reserve your slot!

As in years past, outdoor sessions will run through October 31st, with early November being reserved for weather delays and those on the waiting list. During the cold winter months, I work exclusively with newborns and babies between six and eight months old. Outdoor toddler and family sessions will resume in the spring.

And, as usual, I’ve been sparse at best on blogging, but here are a few completely random photos from some recent sessions. Enjoy!

I’m still not entirely convinced that mom needed to hire me since she takes beautiful photos herself, but I was honored to be selected to photograph sweet little one week old Lucy. Also intimidating? They’ve had family pictures done by the incomparable Tara Whitney. I must admit I’m a bit jealous!

Doing my best to keep the blog current! Here are a few favorites from a couple of recent newborn sessions:

First, little ‘L’. This adorable little guy was born a few weeks early, so he was already almost three and a half weeks old at his first official photo shoot. For newborn photography this is considered “over the hill”, but he slept and posed like a champ!

This beautiful little California girl is baby ‘N’. Mom and dad, I hope that you had a safe trip home and are enjoying every minute with your precious little gift!

I think it’s pretty clear by now that I’m not very good at keeping this blog current! Some days start out promising: I answer a few emails, get some editing done, process a few orders, and am about to post a few pictures on the blog when someone pours yogurt on the dog or decides that he must play with the EXACT toy that his brother is holding at that very moment and no other toy in the universe will do, and then I have to switch into Crisis Management Mode. By the time I sit back down at the computer all momentum is lost, and instead of doing any real work I just waste time on Facebook … which probably explains why my Facebook page is much more up to date!

Here are a few favorites from some recent sessions. Better late than never!

It always seems like I sit down at the computer to answer a quick email and the next thing I know it’s almost midnight. No wonder I’m always so tired in the morning! On the upside, it’s probably the only time that I can get work done around here and not be interrupted by the kids every thirty seconds.

Before I head off to bed I just wanted to post a few pictures for a wonderful client. Little ‘J’ was initially a last minute session, but newborns are my favorite so I always try and squeeze them in if I can. So glad that I could! He was just a dream to work with and his big sister served as my assistant for the afternoon, helping me pick out hats and keeping me company while I worked!

Can’t wait for our next session!

When a new client calls to book a newborn photo session, one of the questions that I’m most frequently asked is if the baby scale featured in one of the photos on my website belongs to me. While 99% of the props used in my photos are actually mine, this one, unfortunately, is not! It belongs to one of my first and favorite clients. She just had her second beautiful daughter, so of course we had to get a few shots of her on the scale. Like her big sister, little ‘m’ put up a bit of a fuss the first time we tried to put her on the scale, but we waited it out and got some great shots. Here is one of my favorites:
