Custom photography is an opportunity to capture the story of your family with the care and attention to detail not possible in a mass-market environment.
Whether you plan to have portraits done only once, or you make a commitment to documenting your family on an annual basis, choosing the photographer that best fits your needs is such an important decision. When making your choice there are many important aspects to consider, including the style, level of expertise, reputation, and communication skills of the photographer, as well as the cost and the overall quality of the end product.
I strive to give each of my clients the best custom photography experience possible. I give 100% to each step of the process, from providing location and wardrobe suggestions, to expertly editing each image and offering only top-quality products to display your finished artwork.
Below is an overview of how a session with Kelli Dease Photography works. In addition, if you are new to custom photography, I highly suggest reading our guide: How To Pick The Perfect Photographer For You.
before you book
Once you’ve taken some time to browse around the website and blog, get in touch and tell me more about you and what you’re looking for. Don’t forget to include important details such as your due date, your location, the ages of your children, what your goals for your session are, and any questions that you have.
We will send over a complete pricing guide, which includes the different session options that we offer, as well as the details of our custom collections.
planning your session
Once you’ve decided which session type is right for you, we will begin planning all the little details.
You will start by filling out a questionnaire, telling me a bit more about your family, your personal style, and what your goals for your session are. I will also send you a complete session guide, which will go over pre-session preparations and the session itself in more detail.
If you need help deciding what to wear, you can come into the studio and browse through our client wardrobe, ask me for suggestions, or use the tips in our session guide to plan your own outfits.
If you would like hair and make-up prior to your session, I can schedule an appointment with my preferred make-up artist, who comes right to the studio. For on-location sessions, I can refer you to a salon, or a make-up artist that will come to your home.
If we are doing an outdoor session, I will also provide you with a list of my favorite locations throughout Connecticut, and suggestions on the location(s) that I think will best match the vision you have for your session.
after your session
Approximately two to three weeks after your session, you and your family will come into the studio* for your design and ordering appointment.
This is not a high-pressure sales session. Rather, we will look through the finished images from your session and I will guide you through the process of choosing the type of artwork that will best compliment your home.
*Alternate arrangements can be made for out of state clients, as well as those who live more than 60 miles from the Farmington Valley area.
