All sessions take place at my studio in Farmington, Connecticut. A controlled studio environment means consistent, flattering light and a comfortable room temperature, which matters more than you’d think when you’re photographing a baby.
The sweet spot is when your baby is sitting confidently but not yet crawling, usually somewhere between six and nine months. At this stage, they’re alert, expressive, and curious enough to make for genuinely engaging portraits, without the challenge of keeping a crawler in frame. For a complete overview of sitter sessions, read my post Baby Milestone Sitter Sessions in Connecticut: What They Are, When to Book, and What to Expect.
Simple and neutral photographs best. Think soft textures, rompers, or plain onesies in white, cream, or muted tones. Skip logos and busy patterns. I keep a curated studio wardrobe stocked with baby outfits and accessories, so if you’re not sure what to bring, you don’t have to figure it out on your own. Most clients end up using a mix of their own pieces and something from the studio wardrobe.
Yes. The session centers on your baby, but I love getting a few frames with parents or siblings in the mix. Just be sure to book the correct session type so we can plan for it.
It happens, and it’s not a problem. I build flexibility into every session for feeding breaks, soothing, and a reset when needed. Scheduling after nap time helps, but babies do what babies do, and we’ll work around it.
