Your maternity session can take place in my Farmington, Connecticut, studio for a classic and intimate feel, or in warmer months, you may choose an outdoor setting – either my favorite field in Simsbury or a custom location of your choice.
It is never too early to book! In general, I have more flexibility in the winter months, with the warmer months and the holiday season being booked far in advance. The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. During this time, your baby bump is beautifully rounded, but you’re still comfortable enough to move and pose. Most expecting mothers book towards the end of their first trimester to guarantee availability. However, even if you’re planning is last minute, there is always a chance I’ll have an opening.
Choose an outfit that emphasizes your bump and fits comfortably. Flowy dresses, fitted gowns, or softly textured fabrics in neutral tones work beautifully. I also provide a client wardrobe with dresses designed for maternity sessions and a curated, shoppable storefront with all of my latest finds. More comprehensive advice will be included in your session guide once you book.
Absolutely! Many clients choose to include their partner or other children to capture family connections.
Professional hair and makeup are highly recommended as they enhance your natural beauty and ensure you look polished on camera. I work with a professional makeup artist who can come to the studio for your session, making it a stress-free and seamless experience. Let me know if you’d like to add this option to your session!
From wardrobe to posing to how long everything takes, there’s a lot that goes into a session that most people don’t think about until they’re standing in front of a camera. If you want a full walkthrough before you book, this post covers exactly what to expect at a maternity photo session.
Yes. The First Year Membership is designed for families who want to document multiple sessions during baby’s first year, from maternity through the first birthday. You can choose 2 to 4 sessions, which are planned in advance so timing takes care of itself. You can read more about why families choose a newborn package and which milestones are worth capturing in the first year.
