I’m Kelli, a newborn and family photographer based in Farmington, Connecticut. For more than 17 years, I’ve been photographing growing families, from tiny newborns to busy toddlers, school-aged kids, and beyond. I also offer professional headshots for parents and professionals who want to put their best face forward.

my approach to newborn and family photos
When I photograph your family, I’m not just aiming for pretty pictures. I’m looking for the in-between moments. The spontaneous giggle, the little hand-hold, the way your child nuzzles into your neck. Those are the things I want you to remember when you look back at your images.
I’ll guide you into flattering poses, but I won’t leave you standing frozen in front of the camera. I encourage movement, laughter, and interaction so your photos feel alive and natural. Every session flows differently, and that’s exactly how it should be.

I’m Kelli, the person behind the camera at Kelli Dease Photography. I photograph maternity, newborns, babies, kids, families, and the occasional headshot when someone needs to look like a functioning adult. My studio is in Farmington (Unionville), CT, and when we head outside, sessions take place throughout the Farmington Valley and other spots around Connecticut that photograph beautifully without requiring a hike or advanced planning.
My style is light, natural, clean, and neutral. Simple setups, soft tones, and images that still feel good years from now. I’m not big on stiff posing, trendy props, AI garbage, or forcing kids to smile on command. Real expressions always win, even when they come with a little chaos.
I offer a range of session types so families can choose what fits best for their season of life, whether that’s maternity, newborn, milestone, or family photos. Digital images are always included, and clients also have the option to create heirloom pieces like albums, framed artwork, and prints that don’t live their entire lives on your phone. I’ll help guide you through all of it, without pressure or upselling.

Family sessions take on all different shapes around here. They can be in studio or outdoors, posed or candid, in color or black and white, serious or silly. The choice is yours. And honestly, most of the time you don’t even have to choose.
Once you’re in front of the camera, we see what unfolds. I encourage parents to relax and let their child or children set the tone. Maybe you have a shy kid who needs a few minutes to warm up and just wants to snuggle. Maybe laughter and tickles are the vibe that day. Either way, we follow their lead and capture what feels real to your family.

This reel is a little love letter to 2025.
Not counting model sessions, headshots or corporate work, I photographed over 165 families this year. New faces, longtime regulars, families I hadn’t seen in years, and somehow kids I once photographed as newborns who are now coming back for senior portraits. It’s a full circle moment that still messes with my head in the best way.
I tried to pull one or two images from every single session for this slideshow. That plan was ambitious and, as it turns out, not realistic if I wanted to post this before 2026. So if I missed your family, please know it was not intentional.
To every family who trusted me to document their people this year, thank you. Truly. You invited me into your lives, your milestones, your chaos, and your most meaningful moments, and I’m deeply grateful for that.

That’s a wrap on the year. I just finished my final family session and I’m feeling equal parts grateful, proud, and very, very tired in the best way.
To every single client who trusted me with their people, their babies, their chaos, and their milestones this year. Thank you. Truly. This business only exists because of you, and I don’t take that lightly for a second.
We’ve got a wedding this weekend, and after that I’ll be mostly off social media until January. Not in a mysterious way. In a sleeping, finishing up the Taylor Swift docuseries, wearing sweatpants kind of way.

All sessions are shot, all galleries are out the door, and now I finally have time to go get my roots touched up because, holy hell, things are getting dire. Honestly stunned I showed my face in this video.
One day I’ll get back to posting regularly, but this week is not that week. Next week isn’t either.
The studio will be closed for vacation next week (Dec. 8 to 13) for some much needed R&R, and then it’s back to business as usual.
