Please note: The following information pertains to babies over three weeks old. For younger babies, please refer to the Newborn Sessions section.
Your baby is three months old. You’re finally past that exhausting newborn stage, you’ve gotten him on a schedule (sort of), gotten a bit of sleep yourself, maybe even a shower, and you’ve decided it’s time to have some pictures taken. My best advice? Wait! Not too long, just a few months. Sure, you want to capture every moment, and your baby looks simply adorable lying there making spit bubbles at you, but that’s about all he can do at this age. In a few more months he’ll be giggling, interacting with you, holding himself steadily on his arms, and before you know it, sitting up. If there was ever an ideal time for photos, between 6 and 9 months old is it!
Scheduling
During the first year, I recommend planning your photo session around the following ages and stages:
- 6 to 9 Months:
During this time most babies can sit up unassisted. Before then, posing options are very limited. - 10 to 12 Months:
This is generally the age where most babies can stand or even cruise. When babies can stand, even just by holding onto a hand or furniture, they are engaging and excited, yet still manageable because they aren’t too mobile yet.
Email the studio or fill out the form on our Contact page to schedule your session.
